Yesterday's Evening Standard headlines read, "Star Wins Football Award". On further reading it transpired that the newspaper were reffering to Steven Gerrard winning the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award.

It would have been weird if anyone other than a "Star" won such a prestigous award but I guess the paper just wanted to remind us that Gerrard was a star.

I recently returned to London after some time away. In spite of a couple of unsavoury things that happened to me a short while before I arrived in London (or maybe because of them) I felt a strange, hopeful feeling when I stepped onto the train from Heathrow. The feeling persisted as I rode back to office and then it struck me: for the first time since I had moved to London, I felt I was back home.
